Membership dues total $105 every 6 months (billed semi-annually), which covers both Toastmasters International dues ($60 per 6-month period) and club fees. The club fees help pay for the meeting space and club supplies. New members also pay a one-time $25 new member fee to Toastmasters International. Dues can be paid by check, cash, or credit card. Guests may visit meetings for free with no RSVP required. Some employers may reimburse membership dues — members are encouraged to check with their employer.

Big "D" Toastmasters was originally chartered on March 31, 1949, as the Toastmasters Club of Dallas, making it the oldest club in Dallas and in District 50. The club has produced eight district governors over its history. Membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. The club strongly recommends visiting at least three meetings before applying for membership. Membership transfers, reinstatements, and dual memberships are all supported.
