Capital Speakers Club of Washington DC
Founded on April 19, 1951, the Capital Speakers Club of Washington D.C., Inc. is a women's public speaking club serving the Washington metropolitan area. Its mission is to perfect the techniques of public speech, benefit members through continued speaking before an audience, promote an exchange of ideas among women, and encourage education by means of public speaking. The club is comprised of three chapters and serves approximately 600 members. Membership is open to graduates of the Capital Speakers Class, a long-running instructional program taught by faculty from The George Washington University. The club also operates the CSC Foundation, which awards annual scholarships to women students pursuing university studies in communication, speech, or drama.
