New York Toastmasters (NYTM)

Established in 1956, New York Toastmasters (NYTM) is one of the most popular public speaking and leadership training clubs in Manhattan. Part of Toastmasters International (Club #1949), NYTM meets every Monday evening in Midtown Manhattan and offers members a lively, supportive environment to hone their public speaking, presentation, and leadership skills. The club uses the Toastmasters Pathways education program and features prepared speeches, impromptu Table Topics, structured evaluations, and leadership development roles. Due to high demand, membership is by waitlist only.

Membership & sessions

Annual membership fee is $230/year plus a one-time $20 new member fee (pro-rated depending on the month of admission). Membership is by application and waitlist only. Prospective members must attend five meetings as a registered guest, then contact the VP of Membership (audrey@nytoastmasters.org) to be placed on the waitlist. Average wait time after joining the waitlist is 1–3 months. NYTM is a non-profit organization and does not offer private public speaking courses.

Membership: 230 USD / yearly

Meeting schedule: Every Monday, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM ET. Three meetings per month are in-person at the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin Parish Hall, 145 West 46th St, New York, NY 10036; one meeting per month is held online via Zoom. Three out of four meetings are open to guests (the third Monday of the month is members-only).
