San Francisco Toastmasters

Chartered in 1975, San Francisco Toastmasters (Club #1771) is a member-led, community-based public speaking and leadership club located in the San Francisco Financial District. One of the largest and most successful Toastmasters clubs in San Francisco, with 50+ members at all experience levels. The club meets weekly on Wednesday evenings, alternating between in-person (1 Embarcadero Center) and online formats. Membership is open to all; guests must attend 3+ meetings before applying, and candidates are elected by members-only vote. New members begin as Associate Members for a 6-month trial period before becoming Full Members.

Membership & sessions

Membership is open to all with no restrictions. Guests must attend 3 or more meetings before applying; candidates are considered in members-only votes held approximately every two months. If elected, new members become Associate Members for a 6-month trial period. Full membership requires active engagement. Dues follow the Toastmasters International schedule: $60 USD per 6-month period (April–September and October–March), plus a one-time $25 USD new member fee. Dues are prorated based on the month of joining. Annual dues cycle runs April through March.

Additional information

Club #1771 in Toastmasters International District 4. Due to high demand, guest attendance is subject to a waitlist of a few weeks; all visits must be confirmed by the VP of Public Relations. After in-person meetings, members typically gather nearby for drinks and food.
