Toronto #1 Toastmasters

Toronto #1 Toastmasters is the first Toastmasters club ever chartered in the city of Toronto, founded in 1953 (Club #1289). Located at the Etobicoke Civic Centre, the club meets every Monday from 6:30 to 8:30 PM (September through June, excluding statutory holidays). Meetings are held in-person with Zoom available when necessary. The club offers a proven educational program covering public speaking, leadership, improvisational speaking, debates, and speech evaluations in a supportive, mentor-rich environment. Membership is open to all adults 18 and over with no restrictions.

Adhesion et sessions

Membership is open to all adults aged 18 and over with no restrictions. Toastmasters International semiannual dues are $60 USD (approx. $170 CAD/year), paid twice yearly (April 1 and October 1). New members pay a one-time new member fee of $25 USD (as of October 2025). Dues are pro-rated for members joining mid-cycle. Members gain access to the Pathways educational program and the monthly Toastmaster magazine. Guests may attend meetings for free before joining.

Club #1289 in Toastmasters International. Originally chartered on May 30, 1953 as a company club for Campbell Soup Company employees. District 60. Members have been District champions seven times. The George Keenan Award was named after one of the club's members.
