SALUT – Speech & Leadership at University of Toronto

SALUT (Speech and Leadership at the University of Toronto) is an LLC-sponsored Toastmasters club exclusively for appointed full-time staff at the University of Toronto. Members meet bi-weekly to practice prepared speeches, impromptu Table Topics, and leadership roles in a friendly, judgement-free environment on the St. George campus. The club is part of Toastmasters International District 60, Area A12, and was chartered on July 8, 2010.

Membership & sessions

Open to full-time appointed University of Toronto staff only. Annual membership fee is CAD $100, payable in full at the beginning of October; fees paid after October 1 are pro-rated by month. New members also pay a one-time CAD $50 fee to cover the cost of materials. Membership includes a monthly subscription to the Toastmaster magazine. Guests are welcome to attend 2–3 meetings before deciding to join. Membership restriction noted on Toastmasters International directory: professional/educational prerequisites apply.

Services: Prepared speech delivery and evaluation, Table Topics (impromptu speaking practice), Structured meeting roles (Timer, Grammarian, Ah Counter, Toastmaster of the Day), Peer speech evaluation and feedback, Leadership development through club officer roles, Mentoring program (new members paired with club veterans), Toastmasters Pathways educational program access, Monthly Toastmaster magazine subscription (included with membership), Speech contests (District 60 competitions), Online meeting attendance

Meeting schedule: Every other Wednesday, 1:05–2:00 p.m. (Eastern Time), St. George Campus, University of Toronto. Online attendance also available.
